He had been raised to view it less as professionalism and simply as common courtesy; regardless, he nodded at the words of the black haired man, rising from his bow. Few places in the world were as old fashioned as Freezington after all.

"A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Mr. Greyson."

He reached out for a hand shake. Public figures were easy to recognize if one read the newspapers as often as the cop did, specially the new ones.

He listened to the other's words in silence, before acknowledging the question with a shake of his head.

"None. I am ready to begin."

His pokemon mirroed him by nodding as well shortly after.

And they were off.

Their surroundings were a beautiful, peaceful city-ish. Casually, the man reached over to ring a finger against a nearby wall, tilting a brow as solid brick greeted his knuckles.

They certainly put an effort into the set dressings.

"I suppose I should give it my all as well, then!" He said as a smile stretched over his lips, turning towards his Kirlia. "Raki."

Raki the Riolu glanced his way in confusion, before remembering his lessons and nodding with a grin. Stepping forth towards the Kirlia, the small puppy bowed at the psychic type, before offering a paw.

Amused, the Kirlia daintily grasped it.

"You can remain calm, Ms. Ragnelle." The man said as he bowed, his smile more amused than polite. "You're in safe hands- we shall see you to safety."

With that said, the man and the pokemon turned towards the light in the distant horizon.

"Now let us go."

And so, they began exploring forward. A few steps into it, Gwyar turned his gaze towards Raki, before gesturing to a nearby building.

A moment later, the puppy was in the man's hand, the Kirlia sitting on his shoulder as he reeled back and threw the Riolu into the air, the fighting type pushing off his palm to further power the throw.

With surprising grace, the puppy landed on a windowsill, before leaping to another, and another, until finally reaching the roof, swinging himself atop it before taking a look around, his red eyes gazing through the unknown city.

A trained police doggo, he gained a quick understanding of the layout of the false city; such places could be labyrinthian to one unacquainted with the place, after all.

With the knowledge gained, the puppy gestured at his companions before jumping down, landing into the crook of Gwyar's arm as the man moved to catch him.

"Got it?" The man asked, to which the puppy grinned and nodded. "Good boy. Lead the way!"

The writer completely misunderstood the challenge and forgot this was technically a fight, thinking his job was to explore and find a way to the point.

Derp. BUT HE COULD STILL SALVAGE THIS.

"There you are." The man said as the Alakazam suddenly rounded out at highspeed, his body swiveling to show the pokemon his profile alone, the Kirlia in his arm disappearing from view behind his large frame. "A psychic-type..."

Not an ideal opponent, given his choice in partner- but there was a reason he chose Raki.

As the bricks shot at him like projectiles, the blonde man leapt out of the way with swiftness belying his large frame, his arm shooting out towards the floor like a pole and allowing him to vault back to his feet.

Before any further attacks could come however, the remains of the wall the Alakazam had turn suddenly surged at the Psychic type, a wave of mortar and clay attempting to cover and swallow the pokemon, kicking up a wall of dust as it crashed down.

As the distraction took place, Gwyar turned around and rounded around the building he had thrown Raki at, the puppy landing on his shoulder a moment later.

"You're getting better." He praised with a smile as he sprinted, getting a grin from the Riolu. "So... Where are we going?"

With a yip, the puppy leapt off his shoulder and began to run alongside him, gesturing with his paw for him to follow.

"Dear me! The city's architects must've lost their minds!" Gwyar huffed, though there was a grin on his lips as he held the Kirlia closer to his chest.

So they had heightened the crisis by modifying the streets to generate the appropriate feelings of panic, disorientation and claustrophobia... Very nice.

What wasn't nice, however, was the dirty water muddying up his shoes and trousers.

"Oh, bollocks! These are new!" He huffed as the water splashed with each step he took, drawing a laugh out of both Raki and Ragnelle.

However, all laughing ceased as soon the tremors making the water quake were noticed, their expressions all flattening into poker faces.

And then the veritable mass of water came rampaging towards them, making their eyes pop open as wide as saucers.

"OH BOLLOCKS, MY WHOLE SUIT!" Shouted Gwyar, the Kirlia screaming alongside him as all that mud rushed at them. They had to get out of the way, stat! "Raki, route!"

Raki had been the one to get a good view of the city's skyline- Gwyar fell in line as the puppy leapt into one of the two alleyways that flanked them, sprinting within to evade the dirty waters.

Right they went, sprinting down the alleyway at top speed, the splash of muddy water hot on their heels as they emerged on another open avenue... with a steep incline.

"Are you for...?! The public transport in this city had BETTER be stellar!" The man shouted as he his pace slowed down, a grimace on his face as he and Raki ran up to the best of their ability.

The puppy had a grimace much like his own, but he yipped and nodded all the same. Yup, this was the right away.

A snort left his Kirlia's lips at that, the little psychic type looking just slightly smug as she smirked up at him and patted his chest. Up n' at 'em, boys! Almost there!

"Oh, brother...!" The man groaned the man, lamenting his choice of bulk and strength over litheness; carrying his thicc ass up this path would be an odyssey all its own.

A flying pokemon would've been pretty useful for this... Sadly, Raki had insisted.

It was the sound of metal tearing apart and bolts flying off their hinges that alerted the man and puppy of what was coming, their gazes snapping towards a nearby bakery just in time to see the sign fly right at them.

The man's eyes read the trajectory of the projectile reflexively, seeing it almost like the swipe of a sword- unfortunately, the very earth was splintering underneath his heel at that very moment.

Changing roles!

"RAKI, SIGN!" Boomed the man as he took the drop instead, pushing off the floor while off balance to instead throw himself to the sidewalk; on his word, Raki leapt up with his arm chambered and palmed the incoming projectile with a boom, a shockwave releasing on impact as he spun in the air next to bring his foot atop the sign, before pushing off towards his trainer, sending the sign down into the newly formed fissure below.

Ragnelle clapped her hands as Raki landed and Gwyar pulled himself to his feet, prompting a grin out of the puppy.

"Not too shabby!" Gwyar praised as well, giving the puppy a thumbs up as he began to advance once more. "Now come! We've almost seen our VIP to the Finish Line!"

Knights had been tied culturally to the protection of the innocent, as well as maidens. If one asked Little Ragnelle, she qualified for both, so it only made sense her guardians were pulling off such a stellar job!

Gwyar felt quite differently about how things were going, however.

"Dear me, did it really have to be so steep?" He huffed whilst marching on, Raki yapping his agreement irritably. "Wha- Where do you get off complaining? You're piggybacking off me!"

Well yeah but it was still hot on his shoulder! This place was scalding!

Unfortunately, the time for levity was through.

As they ran through the slowly evening streets, a large beast came barreling out of an alleyway with a supersonic at the ready, bringing all three pairs of wide eyes towards it as it unleashed the waves.

Gwyar spun on his heel and faced away from the Swampert, gritting his teeth as he shielded Raki and Ragnelle, his ears ringing as the world around him began to spin... Leaving them open to the Alakazam's attack!

Ragnelle gasped, eyes growing wide as she felt a familiar grip begin to form around her-

Before both she and Gwyar disappeared from the Alakazam's line of sight entirely as the man was quite literally punched out of the way.

Raki's Force palm sent its trainer and their charge rolling up the street as the puppy shifted to stand between them and the two pokemon.

"Raki, now is not- Urgh...!" Gwyar began to speak, before feeling his lunch try to escape from his stomach, the man barely managing to swallow the vile.

Raki simply yipped in response and grinned, before holding up a thumbs up. Go!

"Very well. You had best not fall! I'll return for you!" The knight boomed with a nod, before picking up their charge and beginning to stumble away, his steps unsteady as his stomach and head refused to settle.

For his part, Raki breathed in deeply and swallowed hard as he turned back to their opponents. 2 on 1. Both fully evolved, and one a psychic type, on top of that...

Deep end. He could do this.

Raki's gaze sharpened, the puppy sinking into a low stance as his arms swept through the air, his aura rising to new heights and bursting about his form before slowly compressing around his palms...
